Food Cooked Over Fire
Grilling, smoking, charcoal, live fire, and recipes that taste like somebody cared enough to stand outside and sweat a little.
Fork & Embers
I’m Joe, the guy behind Fork & Embers. I’m from Kentucky, I cook a lot of barbecue, and I care just as much about the story behind the food as I do about how it tastes. Around here, you’ll find recipes, BBQ history, bourbon, gear I actually believe in, and a little bit of Southern humor without turning the whole thing into a circus.
The Story
I grew up in Kentucky, where food is not just something you eat. It is what shows up at family gatherings, church potlucks, late-night conversations, and those backyard moments where somebody is standing around a grill giving advice nobody asked for.
Fork & Embers started because I love barbecue, but I also love everything around it. The history. The regional arguments. The old traditions. The weird food stories. The way a good meal can make people hang around longer than they planned.
I’m not here pretending to be some polished celebrity chef. I’m a Southern guy from Kentucky who loves fire, bourbon, storytelling, and making food that feels like it belongs at a loud table full of people you love.

What Fork & Embers Is About
The food matters, but the story around the food is what makes it worth remembering.
Grilling, smoking, charcoal, live fire, and recipes that taste like somebody cared enough to stand outside and sweat a little.
BBQ has roots, arguments, traditions, migrations, and history. I like digging into all of it, then turning around and cooking something worth eating.
I’m not interested in pushing junk. If I talk about gear, it needs to solve a real problem, hold up, and earn its spot near the pit.
I like my BBQ serious, but I do not want the videos to feel like a corporate safety meeting.
The General Store
The Fork & Embers General Store is not random merch slapped together because somebody told me to “monetize the brand.” I design the products myself, choose the materials, and look for pieces that feel like they actually belong in this world.
If I put my name on it, I want it to feel useful, well-made, and worth owning. Whether it is an apron, a piece of gear, or something new I’m working on, the goal is the same: make something that looks good, works hard, and does not feel like cheap junk from a gas station clearance bin.

Why Stick Around
Fork & Embers is for people who want more than another recipe floating around the internet with twelve pop-ups and a life story about somebody’s trip to Costco. Around here, you’ll get food worth cooking, history worth knowing, and enough humor to keep things from getting too precious.
Some days that means a BBQ Passport deep dive. Some days it is a recipe cooked over fire. Some days it is a gear guide where I tell you what is actually worth buying and what can stay on the shelf. Either way, I want it to feel honest, useful, and like something only Fork & Embers would make.
